Kitchen To Bedroom – Life Hacks To Relieve Stress

The day has been drudgery. Or maybe it has been filled with anxiety. Perhaps you haven’t seen your other half for way too long.

Whatever; the plan is to luxuriate in a sensual evening of relaxation and pleasure with him, her or alone.

Life Hacks To Relax

When I’m cleaning up the dirty dishes in the kitchen, the bedroom is the furthest thing from my mind.

Unless I’m planning how many cookies to bring or which movie to start, there’s no way to feel glamorous when you’re in the kitchen.

What if there were some quick and dirty life hacks to get you ready for a big night in with your sweetie or enjoy it on your own? Start in the kitchen to get ready for the bedroom.

If you’ve lacked romance or sensual pleasure for a while, it may be time to make a change. Maybe there’s a diamond hardness in your daily life and the luster just isn’t shining through.

We’ve made a list of hacks to make you feel good, look good, and create a romantic and sensuous setting to get you in the bedroom mood.

Set the Scene

Stand back and survey the room. How does it make you feel? Being intimate surrounded by your clutter and the pressures of the day can put a dampener on your mood.

Take the time to create a calming and romantic atmosphere so you can focus on fun. A mess in the bedroom doesn’t imbue relaxation.

Make Peace With Your Clutter

It can’t be cluttered if you want to relax in your bedroom.

Don’t drop your keys, coins, and receipts on the bedside table. Designate a space in your kitchen to hold your clutter.

Make a shelf or add a fun bowl to the countertop. You’ll feel more at peace when you hit the sheets.

The Smell of Success

Speaking of sheets, you’ve washed them recently, right? If not, throw the sheets in the washing machine while you whip up some herb sachets for your dryer.

Dry the petals off of your latest bouquet or purchase dried herbs like lavender, which have been proven to reduce anxiety and promote better sleep.

Take your dried herbs and petals and place them into a small cotton bag, one with a drawstring that can be fully secured. You don’t want dried herbs all over your clothes.

Throw them in the dryer with your sheets, and you’ll have heavenly-scented bedding that will if nothing else, help induce a perfect night’s sleep.

Remnant Candles

Maybe you have all of your decorating done in the bedroom. You did it ages ago, but now all your beautiful candles are running out. Craft from the kitchen to the bedroom by recycling your old wax.

Take all the old candles and pop them into boiling water (just float them in the water, don’t get water in with the wax). Once they’re a bit squishy, pop the wax out and continue to melt in a double boiler.

Pour them into a mold to make a new candle. Don’t forget the wick. You can layer each color, or gently mix to produce gorgeous marbled wax. Let it set overnight and remove it from the mold.

This hack is a romantic addition to any bedroom and will immediately put him or her in the right frame of mind. Or choose to be alone and at one with your candlelit bedroom setting.

Feel Gorgeous

When I’m feeling blue, a little self-care always perks me up. Giving myself the freedom to feel good in my own skin is the key to great love for myself, as well as my partner.

Face Mask

Gorgeous skin. It’s what we all want in the flicker of bedroom candlelight. If you want to glow, homemade masks are a great way to help moisturize, brighten, and tighten your skin.

Before your big night, take some time to pamper yourself. Masks can be made from lots of things, but my favorite nighttime mask is made with items you probably have in your fridge.

  • Half a banana.
  • About 5 tablespoons of very finely blended, plain oatmeal.
  • 2 tablespoons of honey.

This all-natural mask will exfoliate with the oatmeal, and moisturize with the banana. Honey is also a natural antibiotic, so it’s great for your skin. Positive therapeutic value has been reported when using certain types of honey. Look for all-natural, pure honey, not a sugar-based substitute.

Body Scrub

When I go to bed, I like feeling squeaky clean. It helps me relax after a long day. Taking a relaxing bath can get you ready for sleep—or other fun bedroom activities. It’s so easy to make your own body scrub for a blissful soak in the tub or an invigorating shower.

Take a big bowl and mix:

  • ⅓ this morning’s coffee grounds.
  • ⅓ fresh coffee grounds.
  • ⅓ of dark brown sugar.

Add a few splashes of coconut oil and microwave in 10-second increments until warm. You can add in a scent with essential oils, but I like the heady dark smells of coffee and sugar on their own. Take a quick 10-minute shower to soften your skin and gently apply your scrub to your body in a circular motion to exfoliate. Scrub a dub, rinse it off in the tub.

Leg Wax

If you’re brave, you can make your own DIY leg wax. Also called ‘sugaring,’ this ancient Egyptian technique lets you remove your body hair with a few simple ingredients.

  • 2 cups pure white sugar.
  • ¼ cup lemon juice (or limes in a pinch).
  • ¼ cup water.

Take a heavy-duty pan and add ingredients. Simmer until golden, then let it cool. Seriously, let it cool. Melted sugar is extremely hot! Once it’s at a moderate temperature, you can use a tongue depressor or spoon to put it on your skin.

It can be used with a cotton strip, like regular wax. If you let it dry a bit more on the skin, it can also be flicked off by simply pulling on the wax.

It takes some time to learn, but the end results are amazing. It’s one of my favorite hacks because it costs pennies to make, but lasts for weeks.

Pretty Bottles, Pretty Skin

When you’re at the end of your oil bottles, don’t throw them away. If you have an interesting olive oil bottle, scrap off the label and wash the outside, only the outside. Recycling is good.

Take a plain moisturizer and refill your new pretty bottle. Since many bottles are standard sized, you may even find that the pump top from an old lotion bottle can screw onto the olive oil.

Add in your own favorite scents using essential oils. You can even paint the bottle if you like. After your shower, why not enjoy a little self-massage with your new lotion, or ask your other half to help?

Get a Little Naughty

You’re deliciously clean and moisturized. The sheets smell like heaven, and your bedroom is a relaxation zone. There’s only one hack left to take us from the bedroom to the kitchen, so let’s make it the sweetest and the most sensual.

Make Your Own Whipped Cream

Whipped cream. The old favorite. This time, you’re going to make it at home. Fresh made is always preferable over brand names. You’ll need:

  • Whipping cream or heavy cream.
  • Sugar to taste.
  • Vanilla extract.

Whip ingredients together with an electric mixer or whisk until the cream is soft and sticks to a fork. Dip in some fresh strawberries and head over to the transformed bedroom.

Conclusion

Beauty products, home organization, keys to romance, simple pleasures and more are hiding behind those kitchen cabinets. Sometimes, the best love potion you can brew is taking care of your surroundings and yourself. When you’re feeling good, you’re ready for sensual, romantic pleasure.
