Reviews of the Best Tank Top With Built-in Bra

To pick the best models, I tried on dozens of different designs. I compared the best built-in bra tank tops by price, materials, durability, comfort and reputation. We also researched what other customers thought.

Oh, and not to mention style, of course. So, my favorite camisole with a built-in bra and possibly the best cami bra for activities is…

1. CRZ YOGA Butterluxe Workout Tank Tops With Built-in Shelf Bras – Best Overall

To me, this product is the best camisole with a built-in bra. It’s versatile and can be worn with high-waist pants for a fashionable look, at the beach, or gym.

Plus, the breathable spandex material dries fast and is comfortable to wear. The Butterluxe fabric is 81% Polyamide and 19% Lycra.

Apart from me, women who bought this camisole tank top loved the secure feeling the built-in support provides. Even to the point of tucking in those love handles. It comes just below the waist.

It has light compression which suits me.

Sticking to the manufacturer’s chart is recommended, even if the size seems bigger than you usually wear.

Tech Specifications:

SizesSmall to XX-Large.
Material(s)81% Polyamide, 19% Lycra
Color(s) Available22.

Pros:

  • Stylish racerback design.
  • Lightweight, stretchy fabric.
  • Removable pads.
  • Slim shoulder straps.
  • Great built-in bra and sides support.
  • Made with quick-drying and breathable material.

Cons:

  • The compression is quite light so for strenuous activity something more supportive might be needed especially for those with large breasts

2. 32 DEGREES Cool Women’s Tank Cami – Best for Loose Fit

This flowy bra tank top can be worn for all occasions, including work. It would be a great addition as a travel top as it’s light, anti-odor, and fast-drying but still looks good.

ir?t=midlifehacks0e 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B07MGHLSHVThis is more of a traditional camisole design. And is the best cami with built-in bra that I came across.

The four-way stretch material follows your movements.

This is one of those loose-fitting tank tops with an inbuilt bra that is so versatile.

Finally, the sewed shelf bra won’t move as you wash it and provides the support your chest needs to avoid wearing a bra.

Tech Specifications:

SizesX-Small to X-Large.
Material(s)Polyester (90%), spandex (10%).
Color(s) Available9.

Pros:

  • Adjustable straps.
  • Breathable and soft material.
  • Extremely comfortable to wear.
  • Loose-fitting.
  • Doesn’t contain tags.

Cons:

  • The elastic can feel a bit tight and constricting for some.
  • Not ideal as sports wear.

3. Organic Cotton Shelf Bra Camisole Tank Top – Best for the Environment

This classic camisole isn’t only made of high-quality material, it also respects the environment. If you like to buy organic clothes this shelf bra contains pesticide-free cotton that’s ethically sourced.

We like that the shrink-resistant fabric and is machine washable for easy maintenance.

There is a stretchable band area below the breasts that is lovely and soft.

The fabric there is thicker and so fits better. We reckon this shelf bra cami would be another good bra tank top with a built-in bra for large breasts.

Plus, the built-in shelf bra will provide enough support so you can leave your regular bra at home.

Tech Specifications:

SizesX-Small to X-Large.
Material(s)Cotton (95%), elastane (5%).
Color(s) Available4.

Pros:

  • Machine-washable.
  • Adjustable straps.
  • Shrink-resistant.
  • Slim-fit.
  • Tagless.
  • Soft to the touch.
  • Made with organic and ethically sourced cotton.
  • Doesn’t contain toxic dyes or pesticides.

Cons:

  • Only available in four classic colors.

4. Hanes Stretch Cotton Cami With Built-in Shelf Bra – Best for Value

While it’s the most economical choice I looked at, it nevertheless comes with a thick and stretchy fabric for optimum comfort.

You’ll be able to adjust the shoulder straps for a custom fit.

Most users mention that the shelf bra is generous in size and would even hold an additional bra if needed.

Tech Specifications:

SizesSmall to XX-Large.
Material(s)Cotton (95%), spandex (5%).
Color(s) Available6.

Pros:

  • Machine-washable.
  • Soft and stretchy fabric.
  • Adjustable straps.
  • Sturdy, thick fabric, not see-through.
  • Comfortable.

Cons:

  • Will shrink when washed in hot water.
  • Could have a longer fit for tall frames.

5. Icyzone Yoga Tops Activewear – Most showy

This model features a sporty and trendy design with a supportive bra. The breathable mesh fabric and wicking material allow it to dry quickly after breaking a sweat.

ir?t=midlifehacks0e 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B07QS2YDXMThis model should also resist abrasion, and so can be safely used outdoors and during intense physical activities.

This is similar to the sports bra I currently favor in our article on the benefits of sports bras.

Tech Specifications:

SizesSmall to XX-Large.
Material(s)Polyester (90%), spandex (10%).
Color(s) Available16.

Pros:

  • Removable pads.
  • Stylish criss-cross straps.
  • Wicking fabric.
  • Abrasion-resistant.
  • Airy and fashionable open back.
  • Flatlock stitching for more comfort.

Cons:

  • Some reviewers find it too tight-fitting.
  • Large sizes can be too long.

6. Vislivin Cotton Tank Tops with Shelf Bra – Best cotton w/shelf bra

This bra top has no padding as such but just extra-shaped sewn-in cotton for women who want light support in that area. Known as a shelf bra.

41iRXRLKkDL. SL500

This garment is of 95% cotton which feels good against the skin and although cotton is a moisture-wicking material it isn’t as efficient as man-made materials and I’ve found that to be the case.

Similarly, the small amount of Spandex means the top is not overly stretchy. I don’t mind the lack of stretch as long as it’s long to be worn as a base layer, which it shouldn’t, of course.

The size seems accurate – downsize if you want it tight.

Great value for money 3 in a pack stylish tank tops with shelf bra.

Technical specifications:

SizesSmall to XX-Large.
Material(s)95% Cotton, 5% Spandex
Color(s) Available6 packs of 3

Pros:

  • 3 pack.
  • Easy to clean.
  • Soft against the skin.
  • Nice soft color range.
  • No adjustable straps.

Cons:

  • Not hugely moisture-wicking.
  • Not hugely stretchy.

What Makes the Best Tank Top With Built-in Bra?

While you can find an unlimited number of camisole styles, built-in bras can differ significantly from one bra top to another. Here are some key features to look out for:

  • Tank top types.
  • Bra types.
  • Materials.
  • Other features.

Shirt With Built In Bras

Before thinking of the bra, decide what type of bra tank top you‘d like to wear. Tight tanks with built-in bra tops are fantastic when you have an athletic or slim body shape.

If you’d prefer to hide some of your body shape or simply want to feel comfortable around the house, a loose fit might be more suitable.

You’ll also find classic camisoles, short tops, ones you can wear to work, or even models for physical activity.

Bra Types

The next element to consider is the included undergarment. Most brands refer to them as one single term: “built-in bra”. They can be as simple as t shirts with built-in bras. There are two main types.

Shelf Bra

The supportive shelf bra is a second layer of material that covers and contours the breasts from the inside. It’s surrounded by a line of elastic and doesn’t come with supportive cups but may have a mesh lining.

On hot days or during physical activity, this type of bra keeps your chest cool and dry using breathable fabric.

This type of bra is easier to size and typically comes in sizes from X-small to XX-large. However, they provide less reinforcement and may not offer sufficient support for the largest breast sizes.

Cups

Other tank tops come with padded cups. They’re either sewn in or can be inserted in pouches and removed when needed.

Not only are cups more supportive than shelf bras, but they can also have a push-up effect. Plus, the material is generally thick enough to hide your nipples.

Type of Materials

Have a close look at the materials making up your camisole. The best built-in bra camisoles generally mix several types of fabrics.

Cotton tank tops are typically softer and thicker than other models. Bear in mind that this material tends to shrink during the washing or drying process.

Most models combine cotton with elastane or spandex, which gives the apparel its flexibility, stretchiness and comfort.. They are important when you’re looking for a tight-fitting camisole or sporty outerwear.

Polyester is a good material if you’re likely to sweat, whether due to high temperatures or when working out. It’s quick-drying and water-resistant.

Other Features To Look Out For

There are two more features I find particularly useful and worth mentioning:

  • Anti-odor: Some materials are designed to limit smells, which can be handy in the summertime or at the gym.
  • Abrasion-resistant: When hiking, climbing, or doing other extreme activities, a material that won’t scratch and deteriorate easily is recommended.

Finally, don’t forget that adding cups to your favorite bra top is also possible and simple to achieve.

In a Nutshell

The best bra tank top gives unique comfort and convenience. Whether you’re wearing it at work, for a date, on a casual shopping day, or at the gym, you should find a suitable camisole.

While it’s a tough call to nominate a single top choice, the CRZ YOGA Butterluxe Workout Bra Tank Top made our pick for the best tank top with a built-in bra.

We love the short design, how supportive the bra part was, and the multiple colors offered. And the material is very quick-drying – perfect in hot environments.
